Ground Beams London & Essex
Ground Beams
Ground beams provide support to brickwork and blockwork, they are usually constructed in concrete and are a good alternative to traditional trench foundations. The method includes excavation of a shallower trench, inserting choice of shuttering and installation of the beam reinforcement cage, this will then be tied into the pile reinforcement if this is present. The trench will then be poured with concrete. This is an excellent choice of foundation for projects that cannot have traditional trench footings, whether that is due to ground conditions or due to services running through the foundation footprint.
We have many years experiencing constructing ground beams for projects of all sizes and all over the country.
Precast concrete ground beams
Precast concrete ground beams form a permanent shutter around the perimeter of your building, to simplify the pouring of concrete floors. The precast beams can also provide a base for the construction of block or brick walls. Installation of the ground beams is quick and easy, similar to the prestressed panels, they are designed to span between steel columns or concrete pad foundations. The beams sit directly on top of the pad foundations and no additional support is required under the units.
Ground beams are designed to suit individual projects, the profile will vary depending on the surcharge capacity and span between foundations. The beams are manufactured in two profiles, with a toe, so the units will be self-supporting when installed, sometimes called boot-beams or as flat panels. The thickness of the beam can be altered to suit loadings and chamfers cast in the top edge.
Piling
With years of experience, we are ready for ANY type piling work. We do Mini Piling, CFA Piling, Secant Wall, Open Bore Piling, Contiguous Bored Pile, Pile Design, and King Post.
RC Slabs
Where we are using reinforced concrete for construction, we can use slabs as alternative foundation to ground beams. Being narrower, they offer a solution where depth might be an issue.
